Walk description:

This riverside walk takes you from the centre of York out to the Millenium Bridge and back on the other side of the river. It is predominantly on footpaths, with a short section along the road when crossing the Ouse in the centre of town.

Although you are never far from the centre of York, it is a very peaceful walk with plenty of large green areas for picnics and games.

Along the way you can stop in Rowntree Park (open 8am until dusk on the west bank) where there are toilets, children's play area (from toddlers up to big kids), skate park, bowling green and a cafe. Information about the park can be found on the York Council website at http://www.york.gov.uk/environment/Parks_and_open_spaces/Parks_and_open_spaces_general/formal/Rowntree_Park/

Additional notes:

There are two car parks on the route.

There is a small pay and display car park in Rowntree Park on Terry Avenue. This is only open during park opening hours (8am-dusk).

There is a larger 24hr, pay and display car park off Fishergate at St Georges Field. http://www.york.gov.uk/transport/Parking/Car_parks/st_georges_fld/ This is marked as the start of the walk on the map.
