Walk description:

Horfield is a quiet suburb about three miles north of the centre of Bristol. The common lies on either side of the top part of Kellaway Avenue and stretches up to where Gloucester Road becomes Filton Road.

The common is accessible and is open all the time and is criss-crossed by many paths. Disabled access is generally good but the common has some gently sloping areas.

As this is ancient common land, parking is prohibited on all parts of the common.

The common has a number of large, well established trees, including London planes and Limes.

There is a wildlife pond behind the tennis centre, at the rear of Maple Road, which forms part of the drainage ditch around the common.

Additional notes:

Horfield Common is a broad, historic open space in the quiet northern suburbs of Bristol, much enjoyed by local residents for its fresh air and fine views over the northern suburbs of the city. The Ardagh is an equally popular sport and recreation facility situated on the common.
