Walk description:

When you drive along Valley Lane the first entrance for Chew Valley take you into picnic area number two. As you drive in, there are toilets on your right. Disabled toilets are by the visitor centre.

At the left hand side of this car park is the beginning of the Grebe Trail. There is an information Board at the beginning of the walk. It is a circular trail that you can start in either direction. It is made up a compact
Path, but in wet weather can be very muddy. The trail is suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.

Half way around you come to a bridge. This crosses into the Bittern Trail. The bridge has a step on to it and is only wide enough for a narrow buggy. If you do go across the bridge, turn left and there is a small circular walk through a small wood. This is made up of a compact mud path.

The Bittern trail starts when you turn right at the bridge, but is not suitable for buggies, or wheelchairs.

When you get back to the car park, walk to the opposite side of the car park and there is a small gravel pathway. This is a ten minute walk to another car park at picnic area number one. This walk has lovely views over the lake. There are some benches to sit and admire the view.

When you get to the car park go to the opposite side of the car park where there is a visitor centre and caf with toilets. The caf has access suitable for wheelchairs and buggies. There is a small gift shop in the caf.

If you wish to visit the visitor centre and caf prior to doing the Grebe Trail, use this car park.

Additional notes:

You are welcome to bring dogs, but they must be kept on a lead to avoid disturbance to nesting bird.
